My doctor appointment today was good. Since we were not sure on the due date we did go forward with the ultrasound. I was expecting to see a circle with a kidney bean attached to a little string. Nope! I saw my baby.
There was a perfect little baby on the screen with a head, 2 arms, and 2 legs. Dr. Fiebiger turns the screen to me and says,"There is your baby. Look he has his hand up by his face." He did...it was a moment I will not forget. Our first time seeing each other, well me him anyway. She of course did not confirm it was a he but when I asked what the heart rate was it was 153. I made sure to ask,"Then it has to be a girl, right?!" She responded with a snorty laugh that pretty much finalized for me she had a sneaking suspicion is was a boy. "Melissa, do you know what your odds are of having another boy? 70% compared to 30% of it being a girl." That part we will have to wait to see.
But I am not crazy. The baby measured to be 14 weeks and 3 days so feeling movement makes sense. My due date has been changed to July 18th. I am into my second trimester. Not feeling as bad about the tight pants anymore.
Seeing the baby today made it that more real and I can tell you right now I am glowing with happiness. I think a family of 5 was our number all along, I just didn't know it.

This morning...
I am driving to work and stop at a red light this morning. The car next to me has dealers license plates, it is a brand new Cadillac Escalade. The driver is a woman girl maybe 24 texting away on her phone without a care in the world. I am on the other hand in an almost 10 year old Toyota Highlander littered with juice boxes and crack crumbs listening to Y94. She pulls ahead and leaves me in the dust. I roll my eyes thinking of her enormous car payment. By the time I catch up with her a blue minivan is ahead of me. Nice, shiny, and new.
You know you are getting old when you begin to fantasize you are driving the minivan not the Escalade.
What the hell has happened to me?
***On a side note I have my appt with Fiebiger today and an ultrasound to settle how far along I truly am.

Stella and Dot
You are looking at your new Stella & Dot consultant. Leslie brought it to my attention last year and I blew her off because I really was not interested in a) selling jewelery, b) asking people to host parties, and c) was just plain lazy. Well the tides have shifted and I went to check out their site again this weekend. If you are so inclined you can take a peek here. The selection is very cool, pretty much something for everyone. I LOVE the charm necklaces that you can put your kids initials on. Those are one of my favorites. So now I am going to be calling everyone I know to ask if they want to host a party...just kidding. But, I have already booked two parties. So are you going to join us?

First appointment Baby Number 3
I had my first visit with the nurse yesterday. By her calculations I am 10 weeks and my due date is August 6th. The odd thing is that I am feeling movement already. Not gas but the initial fluttering that you feel. I felt it first on Saturday when I was laying down and again yesterday sitting at my desk. I told her that and because of how irregular I am she scheduled an ultrasound for the 19th when I see Fiebiger to be sure that my due date is accurate. Or to see if there are two, three, or four in there. Which I am sure there are not. Because God only gives you more than you can handle and right now one baby is all I have in me. She started to ask me if multiples run in my family. My grandma was an identical twin-Hazel and Helen, I have identical twin first cousins-Morgan and Lacey. Erik's grandma was a twin as well, I cannot remember her twins name. My grandma on the other side had identical twin cousins. But really, what are the odds that we get pregnant without infertility and then it is twins. C'mom! Slim to none, right?! My pants feel tight today. Maybe it is just gas.

Ahh...yeah
This weekend was great! We relaxed, played at Chad and Leslie's pool because they are in Jamaica, made a bunch of healthy food (pizza, queso, cheese and crackers), and had some of our lake friends out for pool fun. Les gave me permission to have a party so I felt obligated :).
The boys swam for literally 8 hours on Saturday so they were both exhausted on Sunday. Alex slept in until 6:30 am, yeah it was amazing. That kid wakes up way too early. I crawled back into bed for a little more shut eye after he had cereal and was content watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I hear Anthony squeal and come flying into my room."Mom, my other tooth came out!!! Look!!!" He lost his other top front tooth. He looks pretty dang cute with no front teeth. So we did they happy dance and I fell back into a slumber while he celebrated with his dad over a bowl of cereal.
So last night I am getting cozied in to watch my Sunday night shows. He comes over wiggling his tongue where his tooth use to be, very proud. This is what he says to me. By the way it still makes my stomach turn. "Mom, when I put my tongue where my tooth use to be it is all squishy and tastes like boogers. Now I don't have to pick my nose anymore because if I stick my tongue up there it tastes like them." REALLY? He then starts hysterically laughing because he can see the horror across my face.
Dear Lord, please let this baby be a girl. I can not handle anymore ickyness....I have my first appointment today.

Me
Tired...tired...did I say tired? I can barely muster enough energy to write this. Especially after lunch time. I could curl up with my snuggie and take a siesta under my desk. I am now about 8-9 weeks so it is going REALLY fast. My first appointment is on January 10th. If I go by my last period it would put me closer to 10 weeks but I am so irregular I am pretty sure I am closer to 8-9 weeks so it will be fun to get confirmation. Besides being tired I feel overall really good. Emotions come and go. I worry it is going to take forever followed up with panic that it is going go by too fast. We have many projects planned before the next Tortorice makes their debut. Erik wants to find out the sex, I want to wait. I thinks since it is our last I would like to make an event of it. He on the other hand disagrees. I think he wants to prepare himself for another boy and is dying to know if we were blessed with a little girl. We will take either just praying for a healthy, squishy, pink baby.
The boys are good. The flu hit us this past weekend so I was thankful for the storm but felt like a caged animal by Sunday. Poor Alex was really sick. I called Ask A Nurse and she told me if he was sick one more day that we had to bring him in. Thankfully he woke up on Sunday roaring to go. Anthony was the only one of out of all of us to be in the clear. I am praying it does not show up not that school is back in session.
Watched Extreme Makeover last night, very surreal to see out community on a national level like that. Very cool!
Okay, I am going to cap off my lunch with a 5 minute snooze...
